natural menopause

13. It’s very common to find yourself feeling a lot more tired when you are going through the perimenopause...

So you need to rest/sleep more. It’s not rocket science. But because it’s such a simple cause-and-effect thing, many women just don’t take it on board. They soldier on, push themselves, end up biting someone’s head off and beating themselves up for it afterwards… Look, if you’re feeling more tired than usual, then rest more. Listen to your body. Give yourself a break. Your body’s going through a major change here, it needs some support…

If despite resting, eating well etc, you still feel really tired all the time, it’s a good idea to ask your GP to run a few blood tests – iron & ferritin levels, and thyroid, particularly. If you are found to have abnormal levels, these can often easily be rectified with diet and herbs. If your iron levels are low, a good liquid iron supplement is often better than tablets, which can sometimes cause constipation. I always recommend Floradix, which you can get in loads of health stores and pharmacies. If it’s fluctuating thyroid, seek herbal help from a qualified practitioner.
